SMileS - What a way to get your message over Orris Systems power the SMileS SMS services

This quick start guide gives the necessary basic information you need to start to use SMileS.

Assuming you have completed our self-explanatory registration process, and have confirmed your address and are logged in, we can now start the fun and begin.

Making an address book entry

Firstly what we need to do is enter details into the address book.
Clicking the “address book” tab. This being a new account, you will notice you do not have anyone in your address book at the moment and you will see a screen prompt telling you this. You will have to enter a customer’s details into the address book so you can see how it works.

Click on the “New” button to enter a new entry in your address book.

Enter the following details, first name, surname, and mobile number as you would normally enter it, don’t worry if you have any leading Zeros as long as you are consistent it doesn’t matter. You may additionally enter details in the other user fields here. Click the “Address Book Settings” for details on how to change the fields.

After you have completed entering the data, press the “Save” button (you may additionally add another customer, by pressing “Save and Add Another”).

You will be automatically taken back to your address book where you should now be able to see your previous entry or entries. If you wish at this time to edit or see more details about the entry simply click on the name.

As you have now made an entry into the address book, you can if you wish send a message. Simply click on the “Send message” tab at the top of the screen.

 
 

 

 

 

 

Type a SMS message

In the text box that has just appeared, type the SMS message you wish to send. Please remember that text messages have a maximum of 160 characters in any one single message – so you don’t get too carried away we have provided a helpful character counter at the bottom of the box.

Once you have completed your typed message and you are happy, click on the “Next” button or the large “To choose recipients” button.

 

 

 

 

 

Now choose your recipients
  • With this screen prompt; you choose who to send your SMS to...
  • If you wish to send to your entire address book, simply choose “Send to everyone in address book”
  • If you wish to send your SMS to selected recipients based on filters, then simply choose “Send using filters below”. You will need to select which fields you want to filter via a series of ticks, the fields are based on a series of drop down lists or by typing in the area provided.
  • Additionally you can manually pick people from your address book, choose the “Pick recipients from address book” option and simply click on “To select recipients individually click here”. And simply tick those people you want to send the message to.
  • Once you have finished choosing the recipients you needed, then click “Next” or the “Send message” button.
 

 

 

 

 

Sending a message with a SMileS

Now the final screen prompt is the send message screen.

If you wish to send the message immediately, choose “Send immediately”

If you wish to send the message at a preset date and time choose “Send message later” and enter the date and time you wish the message to be sent.

Remember, if you don’t have enough message credits in your account to send the message, then you will need to select the “Buy credits” option and top up your account before the messages can be sent.

Assuming you are now ready, click on the “Send” option – the system will ask you to confirm once, and then after a very short wait your message should be sent – and arrive shortly at your chosen destination.
