Visit from C Richard Jackson MBE DL on behalf of the Prince's Trust
We had our very first visit from an MBE this morning and a Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire – both actually the same person, C Richard Jackson MBE DL who visited us on behalf of the Prince's Trust.
SMileS is keen to become involved with this energetic charity after Mark and Andy were invited to a recent function at the Galpharm Stadium hosted by Dr Graham Leslie, a friend of Andy's, who is a new Prince's Trust Ambassador for the Yorkshire area.
Richard offered to visit the SMileS office at Golcar to discuss opportunities, travelling from his main office in Harrogate, ably steered by his chauffeur Geoff, who surprisingly found us quite easily.
We discovered that SMileS and the Prince's Trust (PT) is an ideal relationship, as the business has a desire to donate to local worthwhile causes, but hasn't the knowledge or relationships to find those causes or to ensure there is a good long term ROI from donations. That's where the PT comes into play, as it has relationships with other organisations, as well as via its direct channels, to those who would most benefit from receiving a cash investment.
However, where the PT really delivers value to both donors and beneficiaries is that it always provides ongoing mentoring to recipients to ensure all parties maximise their return.
Since its conception, SMileS has donated more than £130K to local worthwhile causes (not alot of people know that!) and is ready to ensure that a lump sum is immediately earmarked for the Prince's Trust.
We look forward to keeping you informed as to where this money is being allocated by the Prince's Trust and in future, we'd love to be able to tell you about many success stories.
