The Rebound of Advertising?

Advertising - regarded as a barometer of economic activity - appears to be recovering and companies are increasing their ad budgets. Unilever's ad spend rose in the three months to 30 September and will reportedly continue to rise during Q4, while ITV reports that ad sales are up by 4% for December. It has benefited from the supermarket price wars and 'lavish' spending by the likes of Marks & Spencer on its Christmas ads.
